It's too darned hot

My weekend was very busy. Went to see John Tucker Must Die(save your money) on friday with a friend. The company was far more enjoyable than the movie.
Saturday I was at the gym nice and early. It is so hot here in Minneapolis, temperature stayed right around 100 all weekend. I took a short nap in the AC while waiting for my friend Roger to pick me up in his mini convertable for a trip to the Mall of America. While I was waiting a sponsee who had decided about 2 months ago to start using crystal meth again showed up, ready for help. So Roger and I drove him to the hospital before heading out to the Air conditioned mall.
Sunday I worked at the gym then spent the afternoon trying to stay cool. Went to a big book study at Dan's sober house last night which was followed by a little bon voyage shindig for Chris who is headed off to law school in Boston. My good wishes go with him.
Today is looking to be another scorcher. Stay inside and stay cool, that is my mantra today. Although I am taking a spin class tonight, not sure what that is all about.

she should have a pony

The weekend is almost here! It is going to be a scorcher and I couldn't be happier about that, I love the heat.
I am going to see John Tucker must Die tonight with a couple other middle aged homos. I don't think that we will stand out in a sea of adolescent girls.
My cats are insane. I woke up three times last night to find Henry licking the lamp next to my bed. LICKING THE LAMP! I finally explained to him that while I love him he was really creeping me out as I threw him on the floor.
He didn't listen.

love, love changes everything

My neighbor Don threw out all stops for his girlfriend Kori's birthday yesterday. They ar one of the coolest couples I know and Don is one of those great guys who just really loves and respects women. He filled their place with flowers during the night while Kori slept, apparently it took her a few minutes to notice while she was getting her morning coffee. Then he arranged for her to get out of work early for a spa day and made her an elaborate picnic supper that they had down by Lake Calhoun.
It does not hurt that they are both really hot, either.

who would I blame my life on

Went to a great meeting last night, then walked around the lake with a sponsee...Perfect evening.
It is going to be around 100 here this weekend. that's really hot and not in a Paris Hilton "That's hot" kind of way.
We have a marketing guy here in the office today and he brought sweet rolls and scones in. I have already had three and there is a big plate of them sitting out on Jackie's desk calling my name. Fortunately if they are on Jackie's desk I can rest assured that they are not long for this world, I just wish that she would hurry up and eat them.

sweet summer evenings

There was an amazing rainstorm here last night, during rush hour. I was driving down Humboldt, between 29th and the greenway for you Minnesotans, and the water was up onto the doors on the car. Thankfully German design prevented the car from stalling. Crazy weather, but boy did we need it.
I was hoping to make a trip to Boston in August to see Mike and Laura, but I have three work trips already scheduled and I don't think I want to spend another 4 hours flying somewhere. Maybe in September. I do love Autumn in New England.
My boyfriend Wentworth Miller is on the cover of the new issue of Details. It got me to renew my subscription.

tom turkey ran away and he just came home

I had a quiet night last night. Went for a walk around the lake with the man with the beautiful arms. The weather was perfect and he was wearing a tank top, so that didn't hurt the night either.
I could use about three days of just being in bed...sleeping. I feel exhausted.

Keep it Light

So my good friends David and David got all dolled up yesterday and headed off for dinner and Wicked! David had purchased tickets for his beloved David the day the box office opened, they were fabulous seats. David does nothing halfway and that certainly held true for these tickets. As they were driving downtown David was loving holding the tickets, eagerly anticipating seeing this great show. Rubbing his fingers over the tickets, something caught his eye.
The tickets were for the performance of the 12th not the 19th.
When David called me and said that he needed me to laugh at him I just couldn't bring myself to do it. There are some pains that even I can't make fun of, and theater is one of those.
My heart goes out to the Bourbon.

Your small ways always brightened up the dark

I had an amusing phone call Friday from a childhood friend. Dr Randy Raetz, Rochester's Understanding Dentist, has apparently been a casual fan of this blog without realizing that he knew me. Hey he is an understanding dentist, not a detective right? Anyhw, we had a great laugh that he finally put two and two together when I posted the picture of Gretchen and me going to prom, a prom that Randy was also an attendee of. So if you happen to find yourself in Rochester NY and in need of a crown, a filling or just a good old-fashion cleaning, give Randy a call. If he is as good at being a dentist as he was at filling out a speedo at 17 then you will be in good hands.
I had a crazy weekend. Without getting into particulars lets just say that I woke up in Minneapolis on Saturday morning, went to bed Saturday night at the Crowne Plaza in West Palm Beach and was back in my Minneapolis Bed Sunday night. Very tired and glad to be home.
I have to spend a few days in Sante Fe and am looking for thhings to do there, any suggestions?

across a crowded room

work is very hectic these days and the fact that it is hitting 100 degrees here on a regular basis does not help when it comes to people's temperments.
So tonight I am going to a nice airconditioned movie theater to see an as yet undetermined movie, then home to my airconditioned home. Tomorrow may be a day of travel for me, if someone decides to go to treatment, we will see.
So yesterday I was going into the bank when I heard a woman screaming "hey stop, you fucker, stop" and turing my head I saw a small group, dare I say gang of youths running with the womens purse laughing. Well, they were not laughing for long when a HOT group of construction workers in tank tops, or in their case muscle shirts, and dirty jeans tackled them to the ground. With their sweaty, sinewy arms the held the boys back, pulling them into their hard, taut bodies restraining their every movement, legs intertwined until the authorities arrived.
Kind of made me want to snatch a purse, you know what I'm saying?

colin craven, not so fast!

This morning I called my friend Melissa while on my drive into work and shamed her into meeting me at Starbucks for a quick cup of coffee. She always says no to this, but because she totally blew me off yesterday for lunch I was able to convince her to say yes.
I arrived at Starbucks first, Melissa was dropping her daughter off at day care, and got into line to order my vente non-fat latte. The was a major DILF ahead of me in line and we struck up a conversation. Our drinks came up at the same time and our conversation continued as we walked into the parking lot, got into our respective cars and drove off to our respective destinations. I have been in a really good mood for a few weeks now and that was a nice little cherry to top my cake this morning. I was thinking about how nice my life is and how nice the man with the beautiful arms smelled last night when he put his arm around me while we watched Project Runway and how beautiful the weather was and how I need to buy a new suit for Allie Kirsts wedding when the phone rang.
It was Melissa. Wondering where I was and what time I was going to be at Starbucks.
Opps.
Guess we are even.

three should not be hard at all to remember

Really pleasant evening last night with the man with the beautiful arms. I stuck with tuna steaks, but did grilled vegetables instead. Yellow squash, zucchini and mushrooms(which I have found out he does not like). Then we watched Die Mommie Die. It was a very nice night.
I was up this morning at 4:30 to drive Dan to the airport. He is off to New Jersey today to give a presentation about a new ad campaign for a toilet company.
Insert bathroom humor joke here.
It is supposed to hit temperatures over 100 here this weekend, that is just crazy. I love the heat, so I am good with, plus I have air so what does it really matter?
Project Runway gets kicked off again tomorrow night. I do enjoy this show.My Project Runway watching companion from last season is no longer part of my life , so I am taking applications. At least there is always Lone Star Steve to gossip on-line about the designers shenanigans.

I see your face appearing

It was a perfect weather weekend here and I was able to enjoy most of it outdoors. I went on an amazing bike ride yesterday, walked around Lake Calhoun a total of 4 times with different friends, grilled out, saw Starangers with Candy(very funny). All in all had a wonderful time.
I am making dinner for the man with the beautiful arms tonight, he is semi-vegetarian-meaning he does not eat red meat or oddly enough chicken, but does eat fish. I am thinking about grilling tuna steaks and having maybe asparagus with raspberries. Any suggestions?

the silk sheets, No the satin sheets, I think!

I am a master at fitting large things into spaces that do not seem equipted to handle them. You should see the shelving unit I put in my closet. But trying to fit 5 days of work into 3 days is taxing even me. I am glad tomorrow is the weekend.
I walked around Lake Calhoun twice yesterday. The weather was so beautiful, as were the boys. I really do enjoy summer in Minnesota.
Tonight I am going to the movies with my friend Josh. I would really like to see Strangers with Candy, but I don't think it is playing here. The rest of the weekend I am relaxing. It is supposed to be near 100 here all weekend, si I plan on staying cool.
Plus the man with the beautiful arms is out of town, so I have to take a break from acting like a 12 year old girl.

she wants a little bit of earth

I had just the nicest weekend.
Friday I saw the Devil wears Prada. I loved it. There were parts that really reminded me of 1940's movies when for no reason the female characters would meet in a department store to watch a fashion show.
Saturday I worked, helping a guy make the trip from a treatment facility in Atlanta to a facility in Illinois. So the majority of my day was spent on planes and in airports...Minneapolis to Atlanta to Chicago and back to Minneapolis in time to meet a friend for dinner. What a jetsetter!
Sunday I went to a great bbq at Park Ave House. It was a blast hanging out with a bunch of adorable newly sober homos. Thanks to Dan who always knows how to entertain a large group of the mens.
Monday I spent with the man with the beautiful arms. This was the best day.
Tuesday I spent with my friend Colin, who I don't get to spend enough time with. He is so nice, for a straight guy. We met Bobo and Dubin at Superman Returns then walked the lakes and grilled a rack of lamb for dinner. Pleasant all over the place.
It is good to be back at work too. How did my life become so nice?
Oh yea, while I was meeting with a sponsee last nice I saw the man with the beautiful arms and after some flirty conversation curbside in front of a coffeeshop where there was a gathering of Bears( is that a pack?) he kissed me on the mouth. The bears burst into applause and growling noises. Again, how did my life become so nice?
