you are love

It was Gay Pride in Minneapolis this weekend. I went down with some friends on Saturday and walked around the booths at Loring Park. It was a good time, but here are some of my cynical observations on Gay Pride.

* Lots of Product Placement. I am not sure what discount designer knock off sunglasses have to do with being gay, but apparently alot.
* There was a right to life booth with plastic fetuses and free bibles. The lesbians were having a field day with this one. Now I am all for people standing up for their feelings around the issue of reproductive rights, but while I was waling by they were explaining to someone that there was an alternative to being gay and that they could be helped with the bible. Not exactly a banner of pride.
* log cabin republicans, enough said.
* drag queens that preform in the bright noonday sun with making adjustments to their make-up. Now I love drag, but back lighting certainly does help.

Things that I LOVE about Pride.

* all the churches
* Target and their huge booth
* the HRC boys
* the hot Mayhem Rugby players
* people that bring their kids

All in all it was a good time, I was a little bummed that I had to miss the parade on Sunday but someone had to hold the fort down at the gym.

The most wonderful part of the weekend though was a surprise visit from Dustin. I have not seen him in so long and he was able to spend some time with me on his way to his parents in South Dakota. We all have great loves in our life and he is certainly one of mine. I am still tired from Saturday night.

My friend Katy, who lives outside Dallas and was recently engaged, called me last week to tell me that Prison Break is shooting in her home town. Why can't I be in Texas right now?!?!?!
