what I am needs no excuses

I went to see Transamerica last night with friends Billy, Ryan and Chris, it was very well done. Felicity Hoffman was very believable and the film was terribly kind. Minneapolis is one of the nations centers for gender re-identification surgery so I have had the opprotunity to have a number of trans people as part of my life. I thought that the strength, bravery, introspection and firmness of conviction that I have seen in my friends came across in Bree ( and I also thought that the choice of Bree as a name was also humorous, what with Hoffmans Desparate Housewives connection).
What really impressed me was the way in which Bree spoke, her choice of language more than her voice, and moved realistically protrayed the way in which people in transition slightly overcompensate their actions. This is so obviously not the exaggeration of drag, and I would never call Bree drag, but just an affectation. The best part of the film though was when you meet Brees mother and realize that is who she is becoming.
Today is Dan's 2 year sobriety day, so stop over and give him a pat on the back. We are very proud of him.
