we'd be so glad to see you

Busy weekend. On saturday night I went with a group of friends to see Ms. Barbara Cook in celebration of dear Bobo's birthday, we had dinner at the St Paul Grill, always tasty. The most exciting part of the evening had to be while we were waiting for the valet to fetch our cars. Now, for those of you not familiar with the St Paul Hotel, a little description. The St. Paul is one of the staunch old hotels where the doorman still wears a tophat and a red coat and the valets wear tight pants and are not stoned(unlike Chino Latino where the valets wear tight pants and are stoned).
Back to my story, one of the valets had brought a car around for a well appointed elderly couple, the kind who write off large donations to the Republican party. It was something large and luxury, old school, a Lincoln or Cadillac. The valet, very properly, was running around the car to open the passenger s door for Mrs La Te Da when a vagrant dashed into the drivers side of the still running car and took off, nearly crushing a number of pedestrians! It took a few minutes for this to register among the throng of people waiting for their cars then you started mummering "Did that car just get stolen?", very dramatic.
So today I am filled with gratitude that my car was not stolen.
Very short week at work today, just three days then Dan and I are off to Boston, woo hoo!
Oh, before I close. I saw the movie A History of Violence this weekend. This was very easily the worst movie I have ever forced myself to sit through...horrible, horrible, horrible...DO NOT GO TO THIS MOVIE!
On a high note, there was a trailer for Brokeback Mountain before the movie, almost made the horrific movie worth it.
