Birthday Eve
Tomorrow is my birthday. I am going to be 39 years old. I can remember when 39 seemed ancient, and I am sure to a lot of people it still does, but I don't feel all that different than I did 20 years ago. Except that I am not drunk, or high right now. Actually, 20 years ago I probably felt worse.
A sponsee and friend, one and the same person, took me out to dinner last night after my home group to celebrate my birthday. We went to Mojito and had a wonderful time.
Tonight Dan, Fabian and a bunch of my friends are throwing a supper for me. This may seem like a normal everyday thing to happen, friends acknowledging each others milestones, but for me it is a gift of my sobriety. For such a long time I isolated and just didn't have people in my life who could see beyond themselves, that is the greatest gift. Of course I will still be accepting gifts from ALL my friends tonight, I mean it would be rude not to.

A very happy birthday to you, Jim! You look great for 39 - you could probably lie and say you were around 32 (it's believable).
